Usually, there is an expectation that Keith Jones and Larry Baker will be drawn to face each other at some point in the AIPL Singles competition. This year, however, they almost managed to keep apart, like they almost did two season ago, before they faced each other in the 2014 - 2015 final. Another final between the two beckons, and here is the official review.

A staggering FIVE times in the last six seasons Keith and Larry have been paired together in this tournament - the 2nd Round in 2010 - 2011, the 1st Round in 2011 - 2012, the 2nd Round again in 2013 - 2014, the Final in 2014 - 2015, and the Semi Final last season - with Keith having the slight edge 3-2 in those five matches.

As stated previously, this year marks the second season that the players will meet in the final, after Keith beat Larry 5-2 in the 2014 - 2015 Final.

Larry won 5-0 in his Semi Final this year, beating Luke Butler. Keith made his way to final by beating Adam Jackow 5-2 in their Semi Final.

Prior to the Semi Final stage, the two players had very similar runs. Both players came through Round 1 without dropping a single frame, before both players had very tough groups that they came out on top of. And then both players beat a team mate in the Quarter Finals, Keith beating Julian Lefevre and Larry beating Martin Langley.

Keith has dominated the competition in recent years, winning this tournament a staggering eight times in total, including winning it twice in the last two years, and three times in the last four years.

Larry has won the title once himself, back in 2011 - 2012, where he beat Paul Kanchanlall 5-3 at Shootpool in the final. He also reached the 2014 - 2015 Final, only to lose to this season's opponent Keith 5-2.

As is tradition of the last few years, the Final will take place before the end of season Presentation Evening, tickets still available, which this year is being hosted at the Rivets, Whitehead Way, Aylesbury. The Final will start at 6pm on Saturday 17th June.

It is the venue that Keith won his most recent AIPL Singles title in 2015 - 2016, though the match that did not even take place due to Martin Langley pulling out through injury, meaning Keith was given the 5-0 win as a forfeit.

Keith has a fantastic record at Rivets, winning all 8 of the matches he has played there. Larry also has a positive 4-3 win record at the venue, and the two players teamed up this season and won their Quarter Final at Rivets on the way to their AIPL Doubles title this season.

Both have played 400 singles matches in the league across all pool competitions (and probably a lot more in the years prior that aren't on this website) with Keith recording a win percentage of 82.50% and Larry not far behind with a win percentage of 72.99%.

With the two players being teammates for a long time, there are only ten recorded matches between the pair on this site, with Keith holding a 7-3 lead.

But with both players being such good friends and mainstays of the league, they will know each others game inside out, hopefully meaning this will be a great Final to watch.

If the match lives up to the standard of the last final between the two players, the spectators will all be in for a treat on the night.

It should be one of those matches you won't want to miss (tickets still available from the committee). 6pm is the time, Saturday 17th June is the date, and Rivets is the place. Hope to see you all there!
