Clarke's triple victories send him top

21 October 2017 16:15:00 Posted By Felix

Season 3 champion Darryl Clarke won three matches in Week 3 of the new Grey Goose Season 5 to move atop the table.

And one of those victories handed the defending champion David Feore his third defeat in a row as the defence of his title has yet to see him win once this season.

Darryl and Feore both won back to back frames at the beginning of their match to leave it poised at 2-2, but it was the Season 3 champion who stepped up a gear to take the next three frames on the bounce for the win, with the final two frames shared as the match finished 6-3.

Darryl matched that scoreline against league newcomer Jamie Whittaker, taking the opening four frames on route to the 6-3 victory, before going two better in an 8-1 defeat of Richard Ilsley where Darryl dropped just the fourth frame.

Jamie and Richard also faced each other on the afternoon with Jamie winning 9-0 in a whitewash result that keeps him in second place, just one point behind the leader.

Colin Rogan is third, three points further back, with the second 100% record in the division after two 5-4 victories last weekend.

Playing Daniel Wilkins, Colin recovered from 3-1 down to win four straight and turn the match on its head for the first 5-4 win.

And he had to fight back again in his second match against Shelley McDermott, winning the final three frames for another 5-4 victory despite trailing 2-0 and 4-2 in the match.

It was the second 5-4 victory from two matches played for Colin over Shelley in nine frame Shoot Pool & Snooker leagues and gives him a 5-1 record in all prior meetings between the two players.

Shelley fared better in his other match of the afternoon with a 7-2 defeat of James Connor seeing him drop only a single place to fourth, level on points with Colin.

And Daniel Wilkins is one place and two points behind in fifth after winning the last two frames to beat James Connor 5-4.

Earlier in the week, Adam Jackow and his SP Blacks teammate and captain Peter Ward played their match with Adam winning 5-4 after all the frames went to the player breaking.

Looking ahead to next week's fixtures, the last two unbeaten players go head to head as leader Darryl Clarke plays Colin Rogan. Defending champion David Feore is still looking for win number 1 of the season and faces a tough test this week against second placed Jamie Whittaker. Peter Ward plays an SP Blacks teammate for the second week running as he faces Daniel Wilkins. And the last week of the afternoon sees Richard Ilsley play Adam Jackow with the two prior nine frame meetings both ending 5-4 at one win apiece.

Next week's fixtures in full, to be played on 29th October at 4:00pm
