Seventh Heaven for Burgess

21 October 2017 16:30:00 Posted By Felix

Two 7-2 wins for Max Burgess moved him up three places into first in Season 5 of Smirnoff.

Against Mike Collins in a match-up of the two players relegated from Grey Goose last season, Max won the opening five frames on route to winning 7-2.

And he won the opening seven frames against league newcomer Trevor Gunn as he took his second match by the 7-2 scoreline.

The results see Max move two points clear above last week's leader Mark Tumilty who didn't play this week, with Mike four points off top spot in third place but having played one match more than the pair above him.

There were two other 7-2 win's on the afternoon in the division, with Mark Frost defeating Laura Hunter (7-2) and Sue Latham beating Elliot Riley (7-2).

That was one of two victories for Sue that afternoon as she recovered from 2-0 and 4-1 down for a superb 5-4 fightback victory.

And the last match of the afternoon saw Trevor Gunn win his first match of the league with a 5-4 win over Mike Collins.

Looking ahead to next week's fixtures, there will be a clash between the last two unbeaten players (as in Grey Goose also) with leader Max Burgess facing Amber Carter and Max holds a 10-1 record against Amber in all competitions. Second placed Mark Tumilty plays Mark Frost whilst Mike Collins in third faces Dan Dalton. Sue Latham plays Mark Frost and the last match of the afternoon sees Elliot Riley face Ryan May.

Next week's fixtures in full, to be played on 29th October at 3:00pm
