There is an early Shootpool 1-2-3 as Division 2 champions SP Bullets won 9-3 against newly promoted Nomads, while Starshoot Troopers and Shootpool Blues also won 7-5 against Wonky Weavers and The Vic Club respectively. New team The Alligators and promoted side Cotton Wheel Krazies got opening week draws against Kennedy Vets and Shootpool respectively.
Division 2 champions SP Bullets made a great start to life in Division 1 won 9-3 against newly promoted Nomads, but did find themselves 1-0 down when Steve Chaloner won the opening frame. But two wins each for Brian Elve and Gaz Stroud, plus a win each for Daniel Englefield. Adam Knight, Gary O'Connor and Ryan Englefield helped SP Bullets win the next eight frames without reply to move into an 8-1 lead. There were late points for Mark Robinson and Tony Ruggiero, but a break and dish from Gary secured his second win on the night and the 9-3 win.
Shootpool Blues are in a share of second place after they made a winning start to their season with a 7-5 win against The Vic Club. The first half was an equal affair that ended 3-3 after Peter Mizon, Ryan May and Elliot Riley all won for Shootpool Blues, and Oliver Burgess, Derek Aughton and Steve Crutch all all won for The Vic Club. Second wins for Ryan and Elliot put Shootpool Blues 5-3 up, before a win for John Thorne made it 6-3. Robert Marshall and Tristan Burtenshaw won late on for The Vic Club, but a win for Arron Flanagan made sure of the 7-5 win for Shootpool Blues.
Starshoot Troopers are the other team in a share of second place after they also made a winning start to their season with a 7-5 away win against Wonky Weavers. A brilliant start saw them go 5-0 up through wins for Ben Bantham, Chris Johnston, Greg Finch, Ben Collins and Daniel Kerr. Wonky Weavers were then awarded a frame, and responded by winning the next three through Barry Price, Daniel Jenkings and Jake Welsh to reduce the deficit to just 5-4. Late wins for Greg and Tom Blackburn made sure of the win for Starshoot Troopers, either side of a consolation frame for Richard Cairnie of Wonky Weavers.
Newly formed The Alligators fought back to force a 6-6 draw against the newly named Kennedy Vets. Jarrad Cross and Kevin Smith gave The Alligators a 2-0 lead, before Russ Barrett and Phil Watkins levelled the scores up. Derek Porter and a second for Kevin Smith both gave The Alligators leads, but Ian Manners and Darren Collard made sure the scores were level at 4-4. Kennedy Vets went into a 6-4 lead when Paul McGill and Gerry Murphy both won, but The Alligators salvaged the draw when Phil Crow and a second for Derek got them the required frames to draw.
Newly promoted Cotton Wheel Krazies had two awarded frames to thank as they held Shootpool to a 6-6 draw. Cotton Wheel Krazies were in a 4-2 lead at half time after Steve Varney, Paul Smith and Dave Coleman all won early on. A second win for Taylor and a win for Ali Munro levelled the scores up at 4-4, before a Neil Cato won for Cotton Wheel Krazies had the home side 5-4 up. Wins for Teresa Collins and Michaela Chapman meant that Shootpool avoided defeat, but an awarded frame meant the result ended 6-6.
