ShootBuca made it two wins from two to go top of the pile, winning 8-4 away from home against Cotton Eyed Joes. The White Swan drop down to second place after they were held to a 6-6 draw against Weavers Warriors, and The Feathers recorded their first AIPL win since April with a 9-3 win against The Chicklayers to move up to fourth place.
ShootBuca are new leaders of Division 2 after they made it two wins from two matches, winning 8-4 away from home against Cotton Eyed Joes. It was the home side that made the early breakthrough, as Zenya Heap and Tonya Heap won to lead 2-0, before Lee Salmon and Mike Hurst both won to equalise for ShootBuca. Chris Boggon then gave Cotton Eyed Joes the lead at 3-2, only for Sue Latham and Tom Watts to both win and give the lead over to ShootBuca at 4-3. A win for Amber Carter levelled the match up at 4-4, but second wins for Lee, Mike and Tom, followed by a win for Nicola Court at the end, saw ShootBuca run away with the 8-4 win.
The White Swan drop down to second place in the table after they were held to a 6-6 draw away from home against Weavers Warriors, who remain in fifth place themselves. Weavers Warriors started the better, as Wayne Turney and Scott Warner both won early on, before Will Hammond pulled one back for The White Swan. Adrian Barrett and Michael Bailey then both won successive frames to give Weavers Warriors a decent 4-1 lead, but then had to forfeit a frame due to only having five players. Stuart Robertson then reduced the deficit to just 4-3 when he won early in the second half. Michael and Wayne then both won their second frames of the night to put Weavers Warriors 6-3 up, but wins for Paul Glasgow and The White Swan captain Robert Garrood meant that the awarded Frame 12 made the scores finish level at 6-6.
The Feathers moved up to fourth in the table after they recorded their first AIPL win since April with a 9-3 win against The Chicklayers, who find themselves bottom after two matched played. It was a perfect first half for The Feathers, who won all the first half frames without reply, thanks to wins for Steve Loudon, Vikki Friston, James Shields, Jonny Wilkinson, Joe Tite and Ant Purdey. And they were 7-0 up when Steve won his second of the night. The Chicklayers did fight back after that, as wins for Val Batey, Julie Curran and Victoria Page brought the score back to 7-3, but The Feathers ended up 9-3 winners when Ant and Jonny both won their second frames late on.
This week sees the AIPL Knock Out Cup take centre stage, with all teams taking part in the Preliminary Round. Winners will join into the Knock Out Cup First Round, while losers will drop into the AIPL Plate Cup First Round. When the league restarts the week after, the top two sides in Division 2 will face off, as second placed The White Swan play host to league leaders ShootBuca. Third place Cotton Eyed Joes also face an away day, as they travel to face 4th place The Feathers. And finally, the bottom two sides, Weavers Warriors and The Chicklayers, will both be looking to win their first match of the season when the two sides meet.
