SP Blacks moved to the top of the Premier table this week, after they demolished 8th placed The Roths 11-1 away from home. They are two points clear of New Zealand "B", also are also 100% after a convincing 10-2 home victory against Top John. Shootpool Sharks drop to third, after a 6-6 draw against draw specialists The Brick Slayers. Elsewhere, New Zealand 'A' moved up to fourth place with a 9-3 away win against Honey Bee Stingerz, and Shootpool ‘A’ are in sixth despite drawing 6-6 with The The White Swan, who moved up to 7th.

The Roths 1-11 SP Blacks

SP Blacks moved to the top of the Premier table this week, after they demolished 8th placed The Roths 11-1 away from home. The Roths captain Vince King did win a frame for his side in frame 4, but unfortunately that was all that the home side could muster, as SP Blacks won the rest of the frames to claim the huge win. Dave Green, Mike Chappell, Martin Langley, Adam Jackow and captain Peter Ward all won twice on the night, and there was a win also for Andy Taylor. The 11-1 win sees SP Blacks move two points clear at the top of the league.

New Zealand "B" 10-2 Top John

New Zealand "B" are also 100%, but two points behind the leaders, after a convincing 10-2 home victory against Top John. Keith Jones, Larry Baker, Jamie Whittaker and Doug Campbell all won early on as New Zealand "B" took a 4-0 lead, before Mark Kane won to get Top John off the mark. A win for Paul Kanchanlall was then followed by second wins for Keith, Doug and Larry as New Zealand "B" moved 8-1 ahead. There was a consolation frame for Max Burgess, before New Zealand "B" pair Jamie and Paul both won their second frames to give New Zealand "B" the 10-2 victory.

Shootpool Sharks 6-6 The Brick Slayers

Shootpool Sharks drop to third, after being held to a 6-6 draw against draw specialists The Brick Slayers. David Feore gave Shootpool Sharks the lead, before Steve Curran equalised for The Brick Slayers. Adam Pavey and Robin Meads then gave Shootpool Sharks a 3-1 advantage, although that was soon gone when Lars Bjart, Andrew Holmes and Stephen Page all won in succession to give The Brick Slayers a 4-3 lead. Steve Dutton did equalise for Shootpool Sharks, but second wins for Darren and Andrew put The Brick Slayers on the verge of victory at 6-4. But Shootpool Sharks fought back and rescued the 6-6 draw after a win for Joe Mcloughlin was followed by a second win of the night for Adam.

Honey Bee Stingerz 3-9 New Zealand 'A'

New Zealand 'A' moved up to fourth place with a decent 9-3 away win against Honey Bee Stingerz. John McLernon, Tommy Gibson and James Chilton all won to give New Zealand 'A' a 3-0 lead, before Nick Tilley won a frame for t]HoneyBee[/t]. New Zealand 'A' then pushed on, as wins for Brian Lopez and Kingsley Dudley were followed up by second wins on the night for John, Tommy and James to give the away side a dominant 8-1 lead. Honey Bee Stingerz did pull a couple of frames back late on through Jeremy Collins and Paul Seastram, but a second for Brian gave New Zealand 'A' the 9-3 win.

Shootpool 'A' 6-6 The Swan

Shootpool 'A' are in sixth place in the table, despite drawing 6-6 with The The White Swan, who themselves moved up to 7th. James Connor, Richard Ilsley and captain Richard Herring all won early on to give Shootpool 'A' a 3-0 lead, but that lead was soon wiped out completely as two wins for Dan McIntyre (one of which was a break and dish) was added to by wins for Paul Mart, Charlie Corbyn and Slavcho Boyukliev helped The Swan into a 5-3 lead. Richard Meek pulled one back for Shootpool 'A', only for Marc Reading to then win for The Swan. But from 6-4 down, Shootpool 'A' rescued the draw thanks to late wins for Dave Mentiply and Richard Herring.

Looking Ahead...

League Week 4 sees a huge match at the top of the Premier, as 100% leaders SP Blacks host unbeaten Shootpool Sharks, who sit only four points back in third. Hoping for a close game in the big fixture will be second placed New Zealand "B", who travel to face 5th placed The Brick Slayers, who currently have three draws in three matches. New Zealand 'A' in fourth will be looking to build on their first win last week as they take on 8th placed The Roths. Elsewhere, 6th placed Shootpool 'A' travel to face 9th placed Honey Bee Stingerz, as 7th placed The Swan have an away trip to bottom side Top John.
