Honey Bee Stingerz moved back to the top of Division 1 with a 7-5 away win against Shootpool Blues to lead by 4 points. Only 5 points separate second to second-bottom in an incredibly close division, but The Vic Club moved up to second with a 7-5 win against Shootpool, and Wonky Ari are up to third with an 8-4 away win against bottom side We Love A Double. Top John are right back in the mix again after they had a resounding 10-2 win against Nomads, and The Swanderers beat Kennedy GC 8-4 to move level on points with them.
Honey Bee Stingerz moved back to the top of Division 1 and lead by 4 points, but it was Shootpool Blues who actually took a lead in this game through a Ben Bantham win, but Honey Bee Stingerz soon took control, as Jimmy Surguy, Nick Tilley and Gary East all won to lead 3-1. Frank Almeida pulled one back for Shootpool Blues, but two wins for Jeremy Collins and a second for Gary extended the away lead to 6-2. Wins for Charlie Corbyn and Frank made it 6-4, but the 7-5 win for Honey Bee Stingerz was secured when Paul Seastram won the penultimate frame, before Peter Mizon won the final frame to keep loss to a minimum.
Two forfeited frames were the difference as The Vic Club won 7-5 against Shootpool. Captain Teresa Collins gave her side the lead, but wins for Oliver Burgess, Darren Stone and Steve Crutch soon had The Vic Club 3-1 up. Two wins for Adam Green and wins for Mike Collins and Ben Collins saw Shootpool take the lead at 5-4. despite forfeiting frame 6, but a late win for Darren Stone and a second for Steve, with the other forfeited frame, saw The Vic Club win the match 7-5
Wonky Ari moved up into third place after beating bottom side We Love A Double 8-4, and were ahead in no time as Steph Kazeri 7-balled his opponent for 1-0, before Barry Price and Kyle Cairnie won to make it 3-0. We Love A Double captain Lee Salmon, and then Tracy Playford both won to reduce the deficit to 3-2, but Lee Dixon gave the away side a 4-2 half time lead. Chris Grigson and Ali Munro both won for We Love A Double to level the match at 4-4, but Wonky Ari won the final four frames, thanks to a win for Martin Sullivan and then second wins for Barry, Kyle and Lee, to win the match 8-4.
Top John are right back in the mix again after they had a resounding 10-2 win against Nomads. A perfect first half saw Jordan Maxwell Hoff, Evan Wakelam, Alex Parker, Mark Kane, Josh Corcoran and Max Burgess all win for the dominant home side, before John Ward won to get Nomads off the mark. Second wins on the night for Evan, Alex, Mark and Max then extended the Top John lead to 10-1, before Tony Ruggiero won a final frame consolation for the away side.
The Swanderers won 8-4 against Kennedy GC, a result that leaves both sides tied in 8th, but only 5 points off second place. In the first half, Daniel Nicklin and Stuart Robertson won for The Swanderers, but were cancelled out by Kennedy GC pair Russ Barrett and Gerry Murphy, before two awarded frames saw The Swanderers take a 4-2 lead into half time. Paul McGill and Matty Donaldson both won for Kennedy GC in the second half, but a win for Mark Rudge, a second for Stuart, and two more awarded frames saw The Swanderers run out comfortable 8-4 winners.
