NZB New Leaders In Premier

The AIPL Premier has new leaders this week as New Zealand "B" inflicted a first defeat of the season on previous leaders SP Blacks, as two wins each for Keith Jones, Julian Lefevre and Paul Kanchanlall saw them win 8-4 to take a four-point lead at the top. Two wins a piece for Richard Ilsley, James Connor and Chris Eley saw Shootpool 'A' up to third in the table with an 8-4 win against The Roths, overtaking Shootpool Sharks, who fell to a surprise 7-5 defeat to SP Bullets. Elsewhere, The Arigators stay in 6th place with a 7-5 away victory over The Brickslayers, and New Zealand 'A' moved up to 7th with a 7-5 home win against The Rothschild Arms.

SP Blacks 3-9 New Zealand "B"

New Zealand "B" are the new leaders in the Premier division after they inflicted a first defeat of the season on previous leaders SP Blacks, winning 8-4 to take a four-point lead at the top. Keith Jones and Larry Baker gave the away side a 2-0 lead before Dave Green got SP Blacks off the mark. Julian Lefevre and Paul Kanchanlall then both won to give New Zealand "B" a 4-1 lead, but wins for Adam Jackow and captain Peter Ward reduced the deficit to just 4-3. But from there, New Zealand "B" won the rest of the frames to claim the victory, thanks to wins for Ade Lansdown and Doug Campbell, and second wins on the night for Keith, Julian and Paul.

The Roths 4-8 Shootpool 'A'

Shootpool 'A' up to third in the table with an 8-4 away win against The Roths, who drop to 10th. Dan Hare and Stuart Ladyman gave the home side a 2-0 lead early on, but Shootpool 'A' came back well, as wins for Richard Ilsley, Jon Eley, Chris Eley and James Connor had them 4-2 up at half time. A second for Stuart Ladyman and a win for Vince King leveled the scores up at 4-4, but second wins on the night for Ilsley, Chris and James made sure of the made sure of the win for Shootpool 'A', before captain Richard Herring won the final frame for 8-4

SP Bullets 7-5 Shootpool Sharks

SP Bullets are off the bottom of the table after they shot down 4th placed Shootpool Sharks. winning 7-5 on the night. The match started well for Shootpool Sharks, taking a 3-0 lead early on with wins for David Feore, Gordon Sweeney and Chris Mottau. Elliot Riley then got SP Bullets off the mark, before Joe Mcloughlin extended the lead to 4-1. But the game then turned on it's head, as SP Bullets won the next five frames without reply, a run that began and ended with wins for Amber Carter, included a second win on the night for Elliot, and had a win each for Daniel Englefield and Wayne Thorne too. A second win on the night for David gave Shootpool Sharks the chance to draw, but SP Bullets captain Laura Hunter won the final frame to claim the 7-5 win.

The Brickslayers 5-7 The Arigators

The Arigators stay in 6th place with a 7-5 away victory over 8th placed The Brickslayers. Despite Stephen Page giving The Brickslayers the lead, consecutive wins for Kevin Smith, Steve Smith, Jason Harper, Graham Spencer and Nigel Playford meant The Arigators were flying into half time 5-1 up. The Brickslayers fought back well, as wins for Lars Bjart, Neil Bartholomew, Steve Curran, and a second for Stephen Page pulled the home side back to 5-5, but The Arigators claimed the victory when Graham and Kevin won their second frames of the night.

New Zealand 'A' 7-5 The Rothschild Arms

New Zealand 'A' moved up to 7th with a 7-5 home win against The Rothschild Arms, and were 2-0 up early on thanks to wins for John McLernon and Dennis Walton. Colin Rogan did pull one back for The Rothschild Arms, but wins for Tommy Gibson, Brian Lopez and Kingsley Dudley had New Zealand 'A' 5-1 up at half time. A second on the night for Colin Rogan and a win for captain Stephen Smith got The Rothschild Arms back in the game, but Mark Frost won for New Zealand 'A' to make it 6-3. George Langley and Dan McIntyre then both won as The Rothschild Arms tried to rescue the draw, but a second on the night for Tommy made sure of the win for New Zealand 'A'.
