The top two sides in the AIPL Premier both won 9-3 this week, to keep things as they were at the top of the table. New Zealand "B" continued their unbeaten league season with a convincing 9-3 win over 5th placed Shootpool 'A' with Keith Jones, Jamie Whittaker and Ade Lansdown all winning twice on the night.

Two wins each for Mike Chappell, Adam Jackow, Andy Taylor and captain Peter Ward helped 2nd placed SP Blacks match the leaders’ result, as they beat 9th placed The Arigators 9-3 away from home also.

Elsewhere, two wins for Robin Meads and Joe Mcloughlin helped Shootpool Sharks come back from 4-0 down to rescue a 6-6 draw with bottom side The Roths to keep a firm grip on 3rd spot.

4th placed The Rothschild Arms let a 3-1 lead turn into a 8-4 defeat at the hands of 7th placed SP Bullets, who are now unbeaten in their last three. Amber Carter and Wayne Thorne won twice for SP Bullets, who are now 7 points clear of the bottom two.

And finally, New Zealand 'A' moved out of the bottom two with a much needed 7-5 win against 6th placed The Brickslayers. After going 3-0 down, New Zealand 'A' won the next 7 frames without reply, which included two each for Mark Frost, Brian Lopez and Kingsley Dudley, to claim the match before second wins for Jason Hoff and Neil Bartholomew kept the defeat to a minimum for the away side.

Week 16 Results

Shootpool 'A' 3-9 New Zealand "B"

The Arigators 3-9 SP Blacks

Shootpool Sharks 6-6 The Roths

The Rothschild Arms 4-8 SP Bullets

New Zealand 'A' 7-5 The Brickslayers

Looking Ahead...

The penultimate round of Premier fixtures sees lots of matches for position. First up, the top 4 are all in action against one another as leaders New Zealand "B" host 3rd placed Shootpool Sharks, and 2nd placed SP Blacks are at home against 4th side The Rothschild Arms. There is also a battle for 5th, as current 5th side Shootpool 'A' travel to take on 6th placed The Brickslayers, with the sides only 5 points apart. Hoping for a close one in that match will be 7th placed SP Bullets who host 8th placed New Zealand 'A'. And both the current bottom two sides will be hoping for a win to boost their chances of survival as The Roths host The Arigators
