Still Lots to Play For After Penultimate Summer League Week

SP Blacks made it 8 from 8 in Group A with a routine 10-1 win over Top John, who drop to 8th. 2nd placed We All Need Kev won 8-3 against Cottonwheelers, to eliminate the visitors from this season's knockout rounds. Also eliminated are Wonky Monkey, who fell to a 9-2 against 4th side Shit A Brick. The Vic Club stay in fifth but got closer to the top 4 by beating 3rd placed Shootpool Blues 6-5, and finally 7th side Weavers' Beavers & Balls edged past 6th placed The Dairy Maid 6-5.

Over in Group B, Fubar also made it 8 wins in 8 with a 10-1 away win against The Feathers. Wacky Waving sMipers guaranteed a top 2 finish with a decent 8-3 home win over 4th placed The Roths. Honey Bee Stingerz stay in third with 9-2 against Misfits. And finally, two teams level on points in fifth, Shootpool and Ari Potters, both recorded 8-3 wins, against Dairy Maid Krazies and Summer Chicks respectively.

GROUP A

SP Blacks made it 8 wins from 8 matches this week with a resounding 10-1 win over Top John, who drop to 8th with the loss. On the night, there was two wins each for Mike Chappell, Andy Taylor, Adam Jackow, Peter Ward and George Langley.

Two wins each for Kevin Smith, Jason Harper and Steve Smith helped 2nd placed We All Need Kev to a 8-3 home win against Cottonwheelers, to eliminate the visitors from this season's knockout rounds, and make sure of a top 2 finish for themselves as well.

Also eliminated are Wonky Monkey, who fell to a 9-2 against 4th side Shit A Brick, as Jason Hoff, Neil Bartholomew, Steve Curran and Darren McGeorge all won twice on the night for the visitors.

The Vic Club stay in fifth place, but got closer to the top 4 and still have a great chance of qualifying after they beat 3rd placed Shootpool Blues 6-5. There was two wins on the night for The Vic Club's pair Darren Stone and Tristan Burtenshaw, while Ben Carty won twice in response for the hosts.

Finally 7th side Weavers' Beavers & Balls edged past 6th placed The Dairy Maid 6-5 thanks to a scotch doubles decider. The Dairy Maid's Richard Edney and Weavers' Beavers & Balls' Stuart Robertson had each won twice as the match got to 5-5, but the pair of Will Hammond and Tracy Playford won the match for Weavers' Beavers & Balls.

GROUP B

100% Fubar also made it 8 wins in 8 with a routine 10-1 away win against The Feathers. On the night, Martin Langley, Gordon Sweeney, Steve Dutton, Robert Mutch and Joe Mcloughlin all won twice for the visitors.

2nd placed Wacky Waving sMipers guaranteed themselves a top 2 finish with a decent 8-3 home win over 4th placed The Roths, in a game that saw Kyle O'Brien, Stacy Smith and Wayne Thorne all win twice for the hosts.

Honey Bee Stingerz stay in third place, and after going into a 7-0 lead, they eventually won 9-2 against 8th placed Misfits, with Stephen Page, Nick Tilley, Tim White and Paul Seastram all winning twice on the night.

Shootpool are one of the three teams tied for 5th going into the final week after two wins for Mike Collins, Debbie Roberts and Adam Green helped them to a 8-3 win against current 7th team Dairy Maid Krazies.

Another team tied on points with 5th is Ari Potters, who also won 8-3 this week, beating bottom side Summer Chicks, with two wins each for Chris Grigson, Paul Court and Nathan Davis.
