The Feathers 2-10 Weavers' Beavers & Balls
Weavers' Beavers & Balls are the new leaders of Division 2 this week, after they demolished bottom side The Feathers 10-2 away from home, and with other teams around them stuttering, opened up a five point lead at the top of the table too. After going 1-0 down, the away side won the next seven frames without reply, and won ten of the remaining eleven frames to claim the big win, which included two wins each for Laura Hunter, Zenya Heap, Will Hammond, Adam Knight and captain Jay Smith.
Previous leaders Hot Shots slipped down to second place in the table after falling to their second defeat of the season, letting a 4-1 lead slip as they fell to a 7-5 defeat to 5th placed Ari Potters. Two wins each for Ari Potters pair Josh Wook and Nathan Davis led the fightback, as they won six of the last seven frames to claim the victory, with a second win of the night for Carlton Musavengana the only frame the visitors won in the second half.
3rd placed Nomads also failed to win this week, after being held to a 6-6 draw at home by 6th placed Dairy Maid Krazies. It was a very equal match, with both halves finishing three frames apiece. Dairy Maid Krazies trio Steve Williams, Rupert Hawthorne and Peter Desmond all won twice on the night, as did Chris Ball of Nomads in reply.
The final game of the week also finished level, as 4th placed The C Team were also held to a 6-6 draw by Misfits, who move up to 7th place in the table this week. This one was a true match of two halves, as The C Team won five straight frames before having to forfeit the final frame of the half, to have a commanding 5-1 lead at half time. But despite a second win for The C Team's Chris Avery, Misfits won the other five 2nd half frames to rescue the improbable draw.
Looking Ahead...
The league takes a break next week, with the AIPL Doubles taking centre stage, but when the league returns in December, the league leaders will be sitting it out as Weavers' Beavers & Balls enjoy their bye week. There is also a big match for the chasing pack, as 2nd placed Hot Shots host 3rd placed Nomads, with both sides needing the win to put pressure back on the absent leaders, and 4th placed The C Team are also at home, as they play 5th placed Ari Potters. Elsewhere, 6th placed Dairy Maid Krazies host bottom side The Feathers, and 7th placed Misfits travel to take on 8th placed The Ari Chicks.
