The big match in the Premier saw 3rd place Shootpool Sharks close the gap to the top two by coming back from 3-1 down to win 7-5 against 2nd placed New Zealand "B", to move within one point of this weeks opponents. From 3-1 down, Shootpool Sharks won six of the next seven frames to claim the victory, a run that included two wins each for Martin Langley and Robert Mutch. There was two wins in reply for New Zealand "B"'s Larry Baker, but it wasn't enough to avoid defeat.
SP Blacks took full control in the title race, taking advantage of the previous result, sweeping aside bottom side The Vic Club 10-2 to move into a 12 point lead at the top of the table. For the league leaders, there was two wins each for Mike Chappell, Tye Edwards, Dave Green, Adam Jackow and Paul Ives, with all five now in the individual top 20 of the stats. Mikie Gibson won both of his frames in reply for The Vic Club.
SP Bullets moved up into 4th spot in the table this week after beating 9th placed New Zealand 'A' 7-5 away from home. After trailing 2-1 early on, SP Bullets won six of the next seven to make sure of the victory, with Kyle O'Brien, Ryan Englefield and Wayne Thorne all winning twice on the night for the visitors. A second win on the night for Dennis Walton helped New Zealand 'A' win three of the final four frames to keep the deficit down to a minimum for the hosts.
Shootpool 'A' stay in 7th place, but picked up their first win in five matches with a narrow 7-5 home win against The Rothschild Arms, who drop to 5th with the defeat. It was a team effort for the hosts, as seven different players registered the seven points that they earned on the night. The Rothschild Arms captain Stephen Smith did manage two wins in reply, but it wasn't enough to affect the overall result.
The final game of the week saw 6th placed The Brickslayers win their third straight league match, winning 8-4 away from home against 8th placed Honey Bee Stingerz. The match was all but won in the first half, as the visitors were leading 5-1 at the break. Honey Bee Stingerz did pull some frames back in the second half, but second wins on the night for Neil Bartholomew and Steve Curran made sure of the win for The Brickslayers
The penultimate week of league matches in 2022 sees league leaders SP Blacks host 8th placed Honey Bee Stingerz, while the chasing pair both have away fixtures, as 2nd placed New Zealand "B" travel to 5th placed The Rothschild Arms, and 3rd placed Shootpool Sharks are away against 9th placed New Zealand 'A'. The other matches see 4th placed SP Bullets host bottom side The Vic Club, and 6th side The Brickslayers host 7th side Shootpool 'A'.
