Shootpool 'A' 3-9 SP Blacks

SP Blacks made sure they made it to the halfway point of the season with an unbeaten record with a 9-3 win against Shootpool 'A' that saw them remain seven points clear at the top of the table. SP Blacks won the first seven frames without losing, racing into a 7-0 lead before the hosts won 3 of the last 5 to get some points on the board. Mike Chappell, Peter Ward and Dave Green were the double winners on the night for the league leaders.

New Zealand "B" 9-3 The Brickslayers

2nd placed New Zealand "B" matched the score line of the leaders as they also enjoyed a 9-3 win, after they were victorious against 5th placed The Brickslayers. After comfortably winning the first half 5-1, New Zealand "B" had Larry Baker, Scott Reader, Brian Keeble and Ade Lansdown all winning their second frames of the evening to claim the win.

Shootpool Sharks 6-6 The Rothschild Arms

Shootpool Sharks remain in 3rd place in the table but they were held to a 6-6 draw by 6th placed placedThe Rothschild Arms after they let a 6-3 lead slip. Shootpool Sharks led throughout, and when David Feore and Martin Langley both won their second frames of the night, a win was on the cards, but Shootpool Sharks The Rothschild Arms fought back well, winning the final three, including a second on the night for Gem Clough in the final frame.

Honey Bee Stingerz 3-9 SP Bullets

4th placed SP Bullets got back to winning ways with a routine 9-3 away win against Honey Bee Stingerz, who drop into the bottom two with the defeat, as Kyle O'Brien, Sonnie O'Sullivan and captain Daniel Englefield all won twice of the night.

The Vic Club 3-9 New Zealand 'A'

As with so many matches this week, the match between The Vic Club and New Zealand 'A' also finished 9-3. Two wins each for John McLernon, Dennis Walton, Stephen Page and Kingsley Dudley helped New Zealand 'A' to the away victory that saw them move out of the bottom two, as The Vic Club still remain winless.

Looking Ahead...

January starts with AIPL Singles Round 2, and then the AIPL Knock Out Cup / Plate Cup R1 the week after, before the league season returns with Week 10 on the 25th January, and the first game back is a huge one. The league's top two sides, SP Blacks and New Zealand "B" face off, with leaders SP Blacks holding a 7 point lead at the top. 3rd placed Shootpool Sharks will be wanting to close the gap to the top two as they travel to take on bottom side The Vic Club, and there is a derby as 4th placed SP Bullets host 7th placed Shootpool 'A'. Elsewhere, 5th placed The Brickslayers host 6th placed The Rothschild Arms, and 8th placed New Zealand 'A' host 9th placed Honey Bee Stingerz, with both matches being played by sides only a point apart from each other in the table.
