Big Twanks and Shoot To Thrill Edge to Narrow 6-5 Victories

Top seeds The Big Twanks came back from 5-1 down after the first sets of frames, to claim a narrow 6-5 win in the first leg against venue rivals SP3. After The Big Twanks captain Peter Mizon put his side 1-0 up early on, it was all SP3, as they won the next five frames without reply, thanks to Taylor Christy, Teresa Collins, Ben Collins, Andy Grounsell and Mike Collins. But a second win for Mizon stemmed the tide, and when Frank Almeida, Ben Bantham and Ali Munro all followed suit, it was suddenly 5-5 and all down to the doubles. But the team of Arron Flanagan and Jimmy Surguy won the scotch doubles frame to claim the 6-5 win, and the overall advantage going into the second leg next week.

Shoot To Thrill also enjoyed a bit of a comeback victory in their game against The Bloody Bastards, having to twice fight back from losing positions to eventually win the first leg 6-5. Early on, Grant Mullender and Kelly Byfield both won to give The Bloody Bastards a 2-0 lead, only for John MAssingham and Paul Seastram to both win to level the tie at 2-2. Paul Harker then put The Bloody Bastards back ahead, but Jeremy Collins then made it 3-3, before a win for Owen Garland and second wins for John and Paul helped Shoot To Thrill into a 6-3 lead. A second win for Grant and a scotch doubles win for Howard Gillett and Calvin Baldwin did ensure that The Bloody Bastards are still in this semi final, and only one frame down overall.
