SP Blacks 7-4 SP Bullets

Top seeds from the group stage SP Blacks started tremendously, taking a 5-0 lead early on, before eventually winning 7-4 in their match against SP Bullets, who won four of the last six frames to keep things interesting in the second leg. Troy Brett, Mike Chappell, Andy Taylor, Danny Lee and Peter Ward all won back to back frames as SP Blacks raced into a 5-0 lead, before a win for James Connor got SP Bullets off the mark. Troy then won his second of the night for 6-1, but wins for Ryan Englefield and Jarrad Cross got SP Bullets back closer. Peter then won his second of the night to make it 7-3, then James won his second too, as he paired with Elliot Riley to win the scotch doubles frame. Next week, SP Blacks need just the five frames to secure passage to the Final, with SP Bullets needing a 7-4 win to take it to a decider, or eight frames to win the match outright, both tall orders against a team who only dropped 2 frames in the quarters, and only dropped 14 frames in six group games.

The New Zealand 9-2 The Roths

Second seeds The New Zealand have a healthy lead to take into the second leg, after a comfortable 9-2 home win in the first leg of their semi final against The Roths. Dan Hare was the only player to win for the The Roths, but he did it with some style, beating 10-time AIPL Singles champion Keith Jones twice on the night. For the hosts The New Zealand though, there was two wins each for Larry Baker, Julian Lefevre and Mark Frost, plus a win a-piece for Brian Keeble, Ade Lansdown, Dennis Walton and Paul Kanchanlall, as The New Zealand now find themselves just three more frame wins away from a place in the Summer League Final. hoping to replicate their success in the 2019 version of this competition.
