Two wins each for Frank Almeida, Peter Mizon and Nick Tilley helped Shootpool Blues keep a share of the top spot, and also to a 9-3 away win against formerly unbeaten Hot Shots, who drop to 5th place in the table. The first four frames of the match were shared 2-2, before Shootpool Blues won the next six on the bounce to take firm control of the match, before the sides split the final two frames.
Fellow joint-leaders The Roths also got their third win in as many matches, and also matched the 9-3 score line this week, which they achieved against 9th placed Kennedy GC. On the night, there was two wins each for The Roths trio of Darren Owen, Dan Hare and Glenn Baxter. This match made it three consecutive games from the beginning of the season that the current top two teams in this division have recorded the exact same result in the game week.
Weavers' Beavers & Balls 3-9 Dairy Maid 'A'
The run of 9-3 victories continued into the third match of the week, as Dairy Maid 'A' moved up to third with a decent away win against Weavers' Beavers & Balls, who drop down to a share of 9th place. The hosts did actually take 1-0 and 2-1 lead early on, but Dairy Maid 'A' soon got their rhythm, and won the next six frames, and when Grant Mullender, Kelly Byfield and Frank Bruce all won their second frames of the evening, the win was wrapped up for the visitors.
4th placed The Vic Club got back to winning ways after a narrow 7-5 away win against 6th placed Top John. Despite the hosts taking the first frame, The Vic Club won the next four to open up at 4-1 lead. Top John pulled a couple back for 4-3, before second wins for Mikie Gibson and Darren Stone put The Vic Club on the verge of victory, which a win for Steve Cutch late on secured.
The final match of the week saw Ari Potters move out of the bottom two with a 5-7 away win against Wonky Newy, who are up to 7th as well. Two wins each for Dominic Whittaker and Barry Price had given Wonky Newy a 5-3 lead after the first half was tied at 3-3, but Ari Potters secured the comeback win by winning the final four frames, a run that included second wins of the match for Vicky Friston and Sam Arnold.
Looking Ahead...
Next week will see the joint-leaders both have home matches, with both sides looking to take an outright lead at the top of the table, as Shootpool Blues host 6th placed Top John, and The Roths are at home against 5th placed Hot Shots. There will also be two teams looking to build on recent wins with home ties too, as 3rd placed Dairy Maid 'A' host 9th placed Kennedy GC, and The Vic Club playing at home against 7th placed Wonky Newy. The final game sees 8th placed Ari Potters host current bottom side Weavers' Beavers & Balls.
