SP Blacks 9-3 The Brickslayers
SP Blacks opened up a five point lead at the top of the Premier this week after they secured a comfortable 9-3 home win against The Brickslayers, who drop to 8th with the defeat. SP Blacks won the first five frames of the match to lay down a marker, before The Brickslayers got off the mark. Second wins for Troy Brett, Mike Chappell and Wayne Thorne then helped extend the SP Blacks lead to 9-1, before The Brickslayers won the last two frames, which included a second on the night for Lars Bjart.
The New Roth'mans' 6-6 Shootpool 'A'
Second placed The New Roth'mans' keep their position in the table, but lost ground on the leaders after they were held to a 6-6 draw at home against 4th placed Shootpool 'A'. The New Roth'mans' started the game strong, taking an early 3-1 lead, before Shootpool 'A' won the next five frames without reply to take a 6-3 lead. But The New Roth'mans' fought back well, and won the final three frames, largely thanks to second wins on the night for Larry Baker and Scott Reader, to rescue the draw.
Dirty Ari 4-8 Bradmoor Bullets
Dirty Ari dropped down to third place in the table after they suffered their first loss of the season, falling to a 8-4 defeat at the hands of Bradmoor Bullets, who climb up to 7th. The opening exchanges of the match were close, with Bradmoor Bullets 3-2 up after five frames, but then the visitors went up a gear and reeled off the next five frames without reply, a run that included two for Daniel Englefield, and second wins on the night for Tye Edwards, Steve Dutton and Ryan Englefield. Dirty Ari then won the final two frames to reduce the deficit.
Bradmoor 'A' 7-5 New Zealand 'A'
5th placed Bradmoor 'A' made it back to back wins in the league with a 7-5 home win against New Zealand 'A', who drop into the bottom two with the loss. The first half saw both sides take the lead, before eventually ending level at 3-3. Second wins for David Gray and Luke Butler then put Bradmoor 'A' 5-3 up, before the final four frames were shared out evenly to see Bradmoor 'A' end as victors. Mark Frost also claimed two wins for New Zealand 'A'.
Shootpool Sharks moved up to 6th place after claimed their first win of the season, narrowly edging to a 7-5 win against bottom side SP3. Shootpool Sharks took 2-0 and 3-2 leads in the first half, but found themselves level at 3-3 at the break, before Martin Langley won his second of the night to give the visitors the lead. SP3 kept themselves in the game, until second wins for Shootpool Sharks pair Sonnie O'Sullivan and Robin Meads got their side over the line late on.
Looking Ahead...
Week 4 of the Premier season sees leaders SP Blacks face an away trip against 7th placed Bradmoor Bullets, and it will be last season's 2nd vs 3rd as The New Roth'mans' make the trip to take on Shootpool Sharks.
