The Roths 12-0 Hot Shots

The Roths are now the outright leaders in Division 1 and now have a five point gap at the top of the table after a perfect night at home, claiming the first 12-0 whitewash of the 2023-24 season against Hot Shots, who drop to 6th with the defeat. Lewis Richards, Vince King, Rory Sore, Dan Hare and Stuart Ladyman all won twice each on the night for the new league leaders, with Neil Roberts and Matt Gibson adding a frame each too.

Shootpool Blues 7-5 Top John

2nd placed Shootpool Blues kept up their 100% start to the season as well, but lost ground on the leaders after they claimed a narrow 7-5 home win against 9th placed Top John. Shootpool Blues started the game brilliantly, taking a 5-1 lead by the halfway stage. After Jimmy Surguy won his second frame of the evening for the hosts, Top John came back well, winning the next three to get the match back to 6-5, but the comeback was ended when Shootpool Blues captain Peter Mizon won the final frame to claim the win for his team.

Dairy Maid 'A' 9-3 Kennedy GC

Dairy Maid 'A' stayed in third place in the table after they won their third league match in a row, comfortably winning 9-3 at home against bottom side Kennedy GC. The match was close in the early stages, with Dairy Maid 'A' leading 3-2 before back to back frame wins for Paul Harker gave the hosts some breathing room. Kennedy GC pulled another frame back, but Dairy Maid 'A' closed out with the final four frames, which included second wins of the night for Grant Mullender, Kelly Byfield and Nick Wootton.

The Vic Club 3-9 Wonky Newy

Wonky Newy moved up into 5th place in the table after an impressive 9-3 away win against 4th placed The Vic Club. Wonky Newy stormed into a surprise 4-0 lead early on and never looked back, with Nathan McCleary, Barry Price, Jake Welsh and Ricky Carr all winning both their frames on the night to secure the big win.

Ari Potters 6-6 Weavers' Beavers & Balls

7th placed Ari Potters and 8th placed Weavers' Beavers & Balls both successfully moved out of the bottom two, but stayed level on points with each other after they played out a 6-6 draw. Weavers' Beavers & Balls started the game better, winning four of the first five frames, but Ari Potters came back into it late on. Laura Hunter claimed two on the night for the visitors, but Ari Potters won the final three frames to rescue the draw, including a second of the evening for captain Vicky Friston.

Ari Potters 4-8 Top John

Top John moved up to 4th in the table with an 8-4 away win against Ari Potters, who also moved up to 7th with the points from their game in hand. Top John won both halves of the match 4-2 to claim the comfortable win, their first since the opening week of the season. There was two wins on the night for Max Burgess, as Top John won the final three frames after Ari Potters had got the match back to just 5-4.

Looking Ahead...

The AIPL Singles takes centre stage for the next fortnight, but when the league returns in November, there is a massive top of the table clash, as the two 100% sides face off, as leaders The Roths host 2nd placed Shootpool Blues with the sides five points apart in the table. 3rd placed Dairy Maid 'A' will be looking to keep the pressure on the top two as they travel to face 8th placed Hot Shots, and 5th placed The Vic Club are also away as they face 9th placed Weavers' Beavers & Balls. Elsewhere, 5th placed Wonky Newy host 4th placed Top John, while 7th placed Ari Potters travel to take on bottom side Kennedy GC.
