Bradmoor Bullets 2-10 SP Blacks
In a week that saw very close matches across the Premier division, SP Blacks continued to march on, claiming a 10-2 away win against Bradmoor Bullets, who drop into the bottom two with the defeat. Bradmoor Bullets started both halves of the match with a win for Tye Edwards, but SP Blacks won every other frame, with Adam Jackow, Danny Lee, Mike Chappell and Mitch Lee all winning twice on the night for the leaders.
Shootpool Sharks 5-7 The New Roth'mans'
2nd placed The New Roth'mans' lost ground to the leaders, but kept up their own unbeaten start to the season, claiming a 7-5 away win over 6th placed Shootpool Sharks. The visitors started characteristically strong, claiming the first three frames of the match, but Shootpool Sharks fought back to level at 3-3 by half time. Keith Jones and Julian Lefevre both won their second frames of the match to help The New Roth'mans' into a 7-3 lead, but Shootpool Sharks won the final two frames to reduce the deficit to the minimum.
Shootpool 'A' 6-6 Bradmoor 'A'
Draw specialists Shootpool 'A' also kept up their own unbeaten start to the season, moving up to third place with their third draw in four matches, drawing 6-6 with Bradmoor 'A', who also move up to 4th. Shootpool 'A' led 3-1 early on, but back to back wins for George Langley put Bradmoor 'A' into their first lead at 4-3. Kyle O'Brien and Andy Revie then won their second frames for Shootpool 'A', but Bradmoor 'A' captain won his second to put his side back ahead at 6-5. But Richard Herring kept up the Shootpool 'A' unbeaten start by winning the final frame, his second of the evening as well.
New Zealand 'A' moved out of the bottom two and up into 8th place after they won their first win of the season, claiming a 7-5 home win over Dirty Ari, who drop to 5th. For the hosts, after the first four frames were shared, they moved into a 5-2 lead, before there was second wins each for Dennis Walton and Stephen Page, while Paul Freshwater returned the favour with two of his own for Dirty Ari.
The Brickslayers are up to 7th place in the table after their 7-5 home win against bottom side SP3. Despite losing their first frame, The Brickslayers were in firm control at half time, leading 5-1. SP3 then made a game of it, coming back to 5-4 after three consecutive frames, which included a second of the night for Nathan Brooks. But the match was wrapped up when Andrew Holmes and Darren McGeorge both won their second frames for The Brickslayers.
Looking Ahead...
The AIPL Singles takes centre stage for the next fortnight, but when the league returns, league leaders SP Blacks have a chance to extend their lead at the top as they have a home match 8th placed New Zealand 'A', while the next four teams all face off against one another. 2nd placed The New Roth'mans' face a away trip to 4th placed Bradmoor 'A', and 3rd placed Shootpool 'A' also travel to take on 5th placed Dirty Ari. Elsewhere, 6th placed Shootpool Sharks are away to 7th placed The Brickslayers, and the bottom two sides are in action as bottom side SP3 host 9th placed Bradmoor Bullets.
