SP Blacks opened up an 8 point lead at the top of the Premier this week, and remained 100% in the process after a 9-3 home win against New Zealand 'A', who drop to 9th place after the defeat. The league leaders dropped only one frame on their way to leading 6-1, and there was two wins each on the night for Troy Brett, Danny Lee and captain Dave Green.
Bradmoor 'A' 6-6 The New Roth'mans'
The New Roth'mans' remained in second place, but lost more ground to the league leaders after they were held to a 6-6 draw by 4th placed Bradmoor 'A'. The hosts led 4-2 at the break, before a second of the night for Keith Jones helped The New Roth'mans' get back level at 4-4. The last four frames were also shared evenly between the two sides, with Bradmoor 'A' pair Dan McIntyre and Stephen Smith winning both their frames on the night as well.
3rd placed Shootpool 'A' also remain unbeaten after five games after they claimed a decent 8-4 away win against Dirty Ari, who drop to 6th place. The hosts took a 2-0 lead early on, but two wins each for Justin Hooley and Chris Eley helped Shootpool 'A' fight back and take over the match, with the visitors winning 7 of the next 8 frames to go from 2-0 down to 7-3 up, before the final two frames were shared between the sides.
The Brickslayers 2-10 Shootpool Sharks
Shootpool Sharks moved up to 5th place with a dominant 10-2 win against 8th placed The Brickslayers. Shootpool Sharks raced into a 4-0 lead, before The Brickslayers pulled two back before half time. But it was a clean sweep in the second half for the Shootpool Sharks, winning all six frames to claim the big win. There was also two wins each on the night for Chris Mottau, Sonnie O'Sullivan, David Feore and Robin Meads.
Bradmoor Bullets picked up their second win of the season with a 8-4 away win against bottom side SP3, who are yet to pick up their first win this season. Bradmoor Bullets started well, taking a 3-0 lead, before SP3 pulled a couple of frames back before half time. But Bradmoor Bullets carried on in the second half, as second wins on the night for Daniel Englefield, Steve Dutton and Ryan Englefield helped the visitors secure the win. Ben Collins won twice in reply for SP3, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.
Looking Ahead...
Week 6 sees four of the top five in action against one another. An undefeated streak may come to an end as 100% league leaders SP Blacks take on unbeaten 3rd placed Shootpool 'A', while 4th placed Bradmoor 'A' host 5th placed Shootpool Sharks with the two sides level on points after 5 games. Elsewhere, 2nd placed The New Roth'mans' host 6th placed Dirty Ari. The bottom four are all playing each other this week too, as 7th placed Bradmoor Bullets host The Brickslayers, and bottom side SP3 travel to take on 9th placed New Zealand 'A'.
