Top John 9-3 Weavers' Beavers & Balls
Top John moved level at the top of the Division 1 table this week after they claimed a 9-3 home win against 8th placed Weavers' Beavers & Balls. Top John started well, leading 3-0 before the visitors got off the mark. Weavers' Beavers & Balls then got the score back to 5-3 despite only having 5 players. but Top John won the final four frames to claim the big win, a run that included second wins on the night for Jack Seaton and Alex Parker, as well as a second awarded frame.
Shootpool Blues 8-4 Wonky Newy
Shootpool Blues are the other side at the top of the division, and also have an all-important game in hand over their co-leaders, as they won 8-4 against 6th placed Wonky Newy. The visitors led 2-0 early on, before Shootpool Blues won the next three. The second half was more one-sided though, as Shootpool Blues won five of the six frames, including second wins on the night for Ali Munro and Frank Almeida, with Nathan McCleary winning both of his frames in reply for Wonky Newy.
The Roths dropped down to 3rd place in the table, but do have a game in hand over co-leaders Top John, as they won 7-5 over Dairy Maid 'A', who also drop to 5th with the defeat. The first half was all level, with Dairy Maid 'A' leading 2-0 and 3-1 before ending the half 3-3. A break and dish from Grant Mullender for his second of the night put the hosts back ahead, but from 5-3, it was all The Roths, with the visitors winning the final four frames to claim the win, which included second wins of the match for Rory Sore, Lewis Richards and finally Matt Gibson.
The final game of the week saw Hot Shots move up into 7th place after they convincingly won 9-3 away from home against Ari Potters, who drop to 9th. During the match, John Massingham, Jeremy Collins, Liam King and Paul Seastram all won both of their frames on the night, with Hot Shots winning four in the first half and five in the second to rack up the big win.
Looking Ahead...
The first round of the AIPL Doubles takes place next week, so the league has a one-week break, but when the league returns on the 22nd November, joint leaders Top John have their bye week, so change at the top is expected. Co-leaders Shootpool Blues face an away day against 5th placed Dairy Maid 'A', while 3rd placed The Roths host 9th placed Ari Potters. Elsewhere, 4th placed The Vic Club travel to 7th placed Hot Shots, and 6th placed Wonky Newy are away against 8th placed Weavers' Beavers & Balls.
