3rd placed Shootpool 'A' kept up their unbeaten start to the season, and became the first team to win a Premier match against reigning champs SP Blacks since January, as they won 8-4 against the league leaders. Despite going 1-0 down, Shootpool 'A' won the next four on their way to winning both halves 4-2. During the match, there was two wins each for Shootpool 'A' pair Richard Ilsley and Justin Hooley, while Adam Jackow won twice in reply for SP Blacks. The result leaves Shootpool 'A' just 9 points off the top of table.
The New Roth'mans' 8-4 Dirty Ari
With the league leaders suffering a rare defeat, it gave the chance for 2nd placed The New Roth'mans' to close the gap at the top, which is exactly what they did with a 8-4 home win against 7th placed Dirty Ari, to close the gap to just six points. The New Roth'mans' also won both halves of the match 4-2, with the trio of Keith Jones, Larry Baker and Scott Reader winning in both halves for the hosts, as did Dirty Ari captain Kevin Smith.
Shootpool Sharks 9-3 Bradmoor 'A'
Shootpool Sharks moved up into 4th place in the table after winning their third game in the last four, claiming a comfortable 9-3 home win over Bradmoor 'A', who drop to 6th with the defeat. Shootpool Sharks took a 3-0 lead early on, before Bradmoor 'A' pulled a couple back before the break. But Shootpool Sharks won five of the remaining six frames, including second wins for Sonnie O'Sullivan, Gordon Sweeney, David Feore and Robin Meads, to claim the big win.
Bradmoor Bullets 9-3 The Brickslayers
Bradmoor Bullets also won 9-3 at home this week, beating current bottom side The Brickslayers to climb to 5th place in the standings. It was a dominant performance from the hosts, taking 4-0 and 7-1 leads on the way to victory, with the quartet of Tye Edwards, Daniel Whitbread, Craig Pusey and Ryan Englefield all winning twice on the night.
The final match of the week saw SP3 win for the first time this season, and in doing so moved out of the bottom two for the first time, beating New Zealand 'A' 8-4, who now occupy a spot in the bottom two. During the match, there was two wins each for the SP3 trio of Owen Lewis, Mike Collins and captain Teresa Collins.
Looking Ahead...
The first round of the AIPL Doubles takes place next week, so the league has a one-week break, but when the league returns on the 22nd November, there will be some jockeying for positions, as the league's top two sides were due to play, but have re-arranged for 20th December due to Nationals participation. This means 3rd placed Shootpool 'A' have a chance to temporarily take over top spot if they get a decent enough result against 8th side SP3, meanwhile 4th and 5th also face off in the league, as Shootpool Sharks travel to Bradmoor Bullets. Elsewhere, 7th placed Dirty Ari travel to 6th placed Bradmoor 'A' with the sides only three points apart, and 9th placed New Zealand 'A' host The Brickslayers, only a point apart in the bottom two.
