KNOCK OUT CUP R1

The big surprise of the round saw Division 1 side The Roths win 5-4 against their Premier division neighbours, 5-time champions The New Roth'mans'. The Roths took a 3-0 lead early on, but The New Roth'mans' won four of the next five to level the match at 4-4. But a second win of the night for Rory Sore gave The Roths the win in the final frame decider.

Another game that went down to the wire saw Premier side SP3 come back from 3-0 down to win 5-4 at home against Division 1 side Weavers' Beavers & Balls. From 3-0 down, two wins for Joe Hitchins helped the hosts into a 4-3 lead. Zenya Heap's second levelled the match at 4-4, but Mike Collins won his second in the final frame to claim the win for SP3.

Two teams saw perfect passage into the quarter-finals with whitewash victories against lower league victories, with New Zealand 'A' winning 5-0 at home against Division 1 side Wonky Newy, and holders SP Blacks winning 5-0 away to Division 2 side The Feathers.

There was two all-Premier matches as well in this round. which both saw the home sides emerging victorious. Two wins for Sonnie O'Sullivan helped Shootpool Sharks claim a 5-3 win over divisional rivals Bradmoor 'A', while Dirty Ari saw easier passage after their 5-1 win over The Brickslayers.

There is also Division 2 representation in the QF stage, with Misfits claiming a 5-2 away win against fellow Div 2 side The C Team, which included two wins for captain Tony Festa.

Dairy Maid 'A' are the final team in that hat after they received the bye.
